Why This Course Matters

The 6-Months Training Roadmap is a blended professional development programme designed to equip new educators with the essential knowledge and competencies required to effectively support students within the Pathlight context. Delivered through a combination of virtual and in-person sessions, the programme guides staff through key frameworks, practices, and tools that support inclusive and effective teaching.

During the first year of service, participants will develop a deeper understanding of student profiles, review the Five Features framework, and learn the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The course also explores how UDL can be contextualised within Pathlight and applied to lesson design and classroom delivery, supported by the sharing of best teaching practices.

In addition, educators will be introduced to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies, including information gathering and processing using the SAFER-R framework, to better understand and respond to students’ behavioural and learning needs.

Overall, the programme builds educators’ capacity to design inclusive lessons, apply evidence-informed teaching strategies, and provide effective support for students in diverse learning environments.
