Why This Course Matters
This course equips mentors and aspiring mentors with a basic understanding of instructional mentoring and how it is practised in Singapore schools. Participants will learn to use mentoring language to build trusting relationships with their mentees. Participants will also learn to apply mentoring tools to encourage reflection on teaching practice in mentees, to enhance students' learning. There are 2 opt-in modules namely the use of Mentoring Language and Singapore Collaborative Assessment Log and Enhancing Mentoring Conversations Using Data Collection Tools.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the What, Who and Why of instructional mentoring
- Understand that there is a language to mentoring and how it helps to build relationships anchored in trust
- Be aware of the tools used to support an inquiry approach to instructional mentoring
