Why This Course Matters
The internationally recognised certification on CPI’s Safety Intervention™ (SI) Foundation programme has been designed to provide participants with an effective framework for preventing, de-escalating, and safely responding to crisis behaviours.
Participants will learn about trauma-responsive practices and gain a broad range of tools to help them manage their own emotional responses and identify escalating behaviours in others. The principles and techniques taught in CPI’s safety interventions (disengagement skills and holding skills) recognize the critical importance of staff confidence and their ability to safely respond to crisis situations. The post-crisis strategies taught in the programme will also assist staff to provide support to people involved in a crisis and recognize opportunities to strengthen preventative approaches.
In preparation for the Safety Intervention Foundational Training (Practicum), participants will complete pre-reading materials through Online e-learning before attending the practicum sessions.
The Safety Intervention Foundational Training E-learning & Practicum will be conducted in the 3rd week of the New Hire Induction Training for eligible staff.
