Why This Course Matters
In this module, participants will be guided through the role profiles and core competencies of educators and teacher aides. This aims to strengthen and synergise the working relationships among teaching staff. Participants will engage in discussions based on real-life case studies to explore possible courses of action, reinforcing the shared teaching ethos of the teaching fraternity.
5 Features of an ASD-Friendly Classroom will be introduced. Participants will apply their learning through peer learning and sharing, facilitated by the trainer during a guided classroom tour. The campus tour will provide opportunities for participants to familiarise themselves with the school environment and observe how the 5 Features are integrated across different learning spaces.
This course also introduces the School-Wide Behavioral Expectations (3BEs): Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and outlines the framework for explicitly teaching and reinforcing positive student behaviours. Participants will learn how to deliver structured 3BEs lessons, provide guided practice and feedback, and create opportunities for students to apply expectations across school contexts.
This program will be covered during the 2nd week of the New Hire Induction and also covers effective classroom reinforcement systems, strategies for acknowledging positive behaviour, and guidelines for developing clear, positively phrased class rules aligned with school-wide expectations. Emphasis is placed on fostering a consistent, supportive learning environment that promotes positive habits, strengthens staff–student relationships, and builds a strong school climate.
