Why This Course Matters
Child Abuse Reporting Guide (CARG) is a tool that helps professionals decide on the need to report possible concerns of abuse and neglect of children and young persons to the Protective Service in the Ministry of Social and Family Development. CARG is part of the Structured Decision Making (SDM) © suite of tools used in Singapore. In partnership with SDM developer, Evident Change from USA and various local stakeholders from the social service sector, education, health and law enforcement, the SDM tools have been contextualised to Singapore.
CARG and SSSG guide a reporting process to ensure that i) children, young persons and families requiring statutory child protection services are promptly reported and ii) cases involving vulnerable children and young persons are provided relevant services and intervention. This e-learning course provides a review of SSSG, knowledge of CARG tool, opportunity to practice CARG through training scenarios and information of the CARG user’s role.
